Bonjour Tea Cozy

How about a fun and easy tea cozy project?! This would make a fabulous gift for a friend or yourself! Use our tea cozy kit or fabrics from your own stash. Add a mug and some yummy specialty teas. What a lovely gift!

TEA COZY TEMPLATE

You will need a fat quarter for the exterior and a fat quarter for the lining. Fold the fat quarter in half and place the template on the fold of the fabric.  Cut two tea cozy shapes from the exterior fat quarter fabric and cut two tea cozy shapes from the lining fat quarter fabric. Be sure to place your template correctly, so that you are able to cut two shapes.

Baste the exterior (front and back) tea cozy shape to batting. Quilt as desired.

If you are using our Tea Cozy Kit, use a pressing cloth and a hot iron, to press the appliques in place.  Add the appliques one at a time and place a pressing cloth over the applique and press with a hot iron for a few seconds (until the applique is adhered).

Embellish with embroidered flowers, grass, walkway. And trim the excess batting away from the tea cozy shape.

Take the top loop gingham and fold in half. Top stitch along both edges.

Place the top loop on the front exterior as shown. Baste in place.

With right sides together, stitch a lining tea cozy shape to the bottom edge of the front and back exterior.

Place the front of the tea cozy unit on top of the back tea cozy unit, right sides facing. Stitch all around the tea cozy exterior and lining. Leave an opening in the lining for turning right side out.

Turn the tea cozy right side out and smooth the lining inside the exterior. Hand or machine sew the opening in the lining. Top stitch around the bottom edge of the tea cozy.

Now brew yourself a sweet pot of tea and enjoy your perfectly lovely tea cozy!
