How To Add A Simple Stocking Cuff
Sometimes I like to add a cuff to my stocking. A cuff can add a nice area for embroidery to personalize your stocking, or perhaps Clare's felt stars! Or perhaps you would like to hang pom-poms or fringe from the bottom edge of a cuff. Here is a quick tutorial for adding a simple cuff to your stocking. To begin, measure the top edge of your unfinished stocking. Measure it before you have sewn the front and back together. Next you need to decide on the length of your cuff. For this stocking, I chose to have a 4" cuff....
A Clamshell Stocking
Oh my! I do love everything clamshell! A few years ago I made a clamshell stocking for my niece. And since we are having a Sew Along, I thought this would be a great time to post a little clammy tutorial. My clamshell stocking was made using the same needle-turn technique I used in the clamshell pouch! But for my clamshell stocking I used a 3.5 " clamshell template. You can use this Clamshell to make your own 3.5 inch template. (you will need to be logged into google to open the template) Just like in the clamshell pouch, you...
Tips for the Diamond Stocking
Wow! I am seeing some amazing stockings on Instagram! You all are awesome! I know the Diamond Stocking can be a bit challenging, so I wanted to add a few more tips to my previously published post - Sunny Stocking (scroll through and you will find it with the link to the templates) For those machine piecing the diamonds: When you are ready to stitch your diamonds into rows, place the right sides of the diamond together with the tips offset. Your sewing machine needle should fall right in that valley marked by the arrow. You should have a...
Sunny Stocking Sew Along
It seems like the big Holidays come earlier and earlier each year. Am I right?! I am certain the mall had Christmas decorations up even before Halloween. But as quilters, we are very familiar with sewing ahead of the season. One of my favorite classes to teach every year was a stocking class. Stockings are just fun!!! So when a few of my friends suggested I host a Stocking Sew Along, I thought that was a great idea. Its the next best thing to teaching class! So let's get started! On our Sunny Day Supply blog you will find instructions...
Best of Sarah Jane Pillow
I had so much fun making a pillow using the newly released Best of Sarah Jane by Michael Miller. We quickly sold out of several of the prints, but they are back in stock! Yayyy!!! I thought you may want to make your own pillow or just use the Economy Block for a quilt, or a mug rug, or just to try it out for fun. This is a great block for fussy cutting and perfect to highlight a special print. To begin, you may want to print out a copy of the layout for my pillow. I used an 18" pillow...
